Early Age
Tanu was an average student during school. She completed her early education at Cambridge School, located in Srinivaspur, New Delhi. After matric exams, she decided to become a doctor and subsequently began hard work in her studies and got 94% marks in exams.
Tanu was a self-learner and studied independently, without any pressure on her. At that time, her father, Akash Jain, met with an accident and got significant injuries. Due to his injuries, he had to lie down in bed for 2 years. This accident gives a heartbreaking shock to Tanu.
Tanu stopped studying for a while, but her father became a great supporter of her. He motivated her to study hard and achieve her goals and dreams. So, she started preparing for the medical entrance exams. She appeared in the medical entrance exam in 2014.
She completed her BDS degree from Subharti Medical College, Meerut. By this time, she was unaware of the UPSC exams. She continued her profession and proceeded with her internship. After completing the internship, the profession did not satisfy her and thought there were numerous limitations in the doctor’s field. She wanted to explore and serve the nation, so decided to become a social servant.

Jain’s UPSC journey was very long and full of hard work, dedication, and determination. As she belonged to a business family, she had no idea about the hardships of this exam and the preparations. Her quest was 3 years long.
In 2012, just 2 months before the exam, she started preparations and thought she would do it without any hassle, but she was wrong. She failed the exam. This failure gave her lessons and dedication to work harder.
In an interview, she said that prelim exams were not a problem for her. It was the interview in which she was nervous. She did not even know how to prepare for the interview. Her mother bought her 3 to 4 books for the preparations, but it did not help. Her friend, Vaatsalya Kumar, helped her to prepare for the interview.
In 2014, on her third attempt, she qualified for the exam and got a good rank. In 2015, she was posted at the Armed Forces headquarters.
Later, she became part of IAS and became an IAS interviewer at Drishti. She is currently working as an Assistant Director at DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation)
