As a glamorous and mesmerizing beauty, she has always dreamed of achieving something big. Sheynnis was in her teens when she first participated in a beauty contest at La Salle Managua Pedagogical Institute and successfully won the title of Miss Lasallista.
Debut as Teen Pageant
When Palacios won the Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016 competition, she made her pageantry debut. In Managua, Nicaragua, as Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016, Palacios competed in the Teen Universe 2017 pageant, finishing in the Top 10.
2020’s Miss World Nicaragua
On May 16, 2020, Palacios won the title of 2020’s Miss World Nicaragua crown while representing her capital city, Managua.
2022 Miss World Title
The Miss World 2020 and 2021 pageants could not take place and were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In December 2021, Palacios again competed in the Miss World 2021 contest in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She represented her nation in the 70th Miss World pageant in 2022 against 96 other candidates. Palacios was a member of the Top 40 quarterfinalists, with Polish Karolina Bielawska emerging victorious.
Reinado Internacional del Café 2022
Due to a positive COVID-19 test, Palacios could not participate in the Reinado Internacional del Café 2022 competition on January 8, 2022, in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia. However, after a week, the contestants from Hong Kong, Cuba, and Guatemala withdrew from the tournament. Representatives of the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic also had to retreat for the same reason and scenario.
Miss Nicaragua of 2023
After winning the Miss Nicaragua title, it was confirmed that Palacios would represent Nicaragua in the Miss Universe Contest for the following year. On August 5, 2023, she represented Diriamba and competed against nine other finalists at Crowne Plaza Managua. Thus, to get her participation confirmed, Palacios won the Miss Nicaragua title for the year 2023. This win allowed her to make her way to the Miss Universe contest as a representative of Nicaragua.
Miss Universe 2023 Journey
At 23 years old, Sheynnis was asked with whom she would most like to spend a day in the final question-and-answer round. In response, Ms. Palacious said she would select feminist and philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft, who lived in the eighteenth century in Britain. She said her inspiration, Wollstonecraft, broke down social barriers to achieve her dreams and “allowed many women.” She further said, through a translator, “There are no limitations for women today,” according to a CNN report.
Palacious wore a delicately crafted gown that was embellished with silver work all over. She paired it with a blue silk cape, which enhanced the class and grace of the outfit overall. Sheynnis beautifully carried her look to the end. A few hours before the final competition, Ms Palacios wrote a touching message on her Instagram about fulfilling her childhood desire to compete in the international event. In Spanish, she wrote,
“Tonight I dedicate it to my inner child and to each of the girls who yearn to fulfil this dream, even the sky itself is the limit, dream so big that people think it is impossible to achieve because that is where you know that your dreams and goals will exceed obstacles, and remember to accompany them with determination, perseverance and passion.” (Translated from Spanish)
At the 72nd Miss Universe pageant held on November 18, 2023, Palacios competed for her city, Nicaragua. She was her country’s fifth contestant to make it to the finals. Sheynnis Palacios became the first Nicaraguan and second woman from Central America to be crowned Miss Universe 2023, after Justine Pasek of Panama in 2002.
